The easy way to get your NIF
The first step in your relocation process is getting your NIF. Obtaining your NIF can be completed while you are still in your home country.
How does it work?
After your document submission, EasyRelocation will start the process immediately, and a power of attorney will be sent to you. In just a few days, we will send you your NIF.
We will be your fiscal representatives until you become a resident.
Easy relocation includes 12 months of fiscal representation when you purchase your NIF. For most people, this offers enough time to move to Portugal and remove your fiscal representative to avoid any additional fees. After 12 months, you will be charged an annual fee in order to maintain your fiscal representation.
Why is there an ongoing fee for fiscal representation through Easyrelocation ?
Your fiscal representative's responsibility does not end until you remove your fiscal representative or assign a new one. Because of this ongoing responsibility, you will be charged an annual fee to continue using our affiliated lawyer as your fiscal representative beyond the first 12 months.

What documents do I need to apply for a NIF?
A high-quality, scanned image or photo of your passport.
- Text is legible
- No shadows
- No light reflections
- Must be valid
- Signature is fully visible
- All four corners of the document are visible
*EU Citizens can use their National ID Card. Photos of both sides of the ID must be provided.
A document that serves as proof of your residential address outside of Portugal.
1. Driver’s license
- Must be valid (i.e. not expired)
- Provide photos of both the front and back
- Residential address must be visible
- Expiration date must be visible
2. First page of bank statement
- Issue date must be visible
- Issued within the past 3 months
- Must be an actual bank statement. Other documents from the bank (e.g. confirmation letter or bank certificate) will not be accepted.
3.Utility bill
- Issue date must be visible
- Issued within the past 3 months
- Can be from any of the following providers: electricity, water, mobile sim, internet, cable, etc.
For Minors
If requesting a NIF on behalf of a minor, please include a proof of address of one of the minor’s parents.
